Building of the
Giant Hobbit House

During the 4 week Permaculture Course we made over 1,000 mud bricks using soil from the land. Most of the soil is extremely sandy,
so we had to get some clay from termite mounds around the land to mix with it. We then added water from the river and
rice husk and pressed the mud into brick forms.

Throughout the 6 weeks we had lots of visitors on the land helping to make bricks and dancing in the mud. Children from the local school and village came for several days during the training to help and learn how to make mud bricks.

The mud house building took place for 2 weeks, after the Permaculture Course.
We were able to complete almost the entire house!!!
